We spend most of our waking hours at work, commuting to work, planning our work. Work is such a vital component. How we work, the successes we create at work, celebrate who we are and the quality of our lives.
A job must be MORE than a way to earn a living.

FIRE FROM WITHIN...
"Motivation is a fire from within. If someone else tries to light that fire under you, chances are it will burn briefly." ~ Stephen R. Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
You have the power to light your own fire.
I’ve a friend whose been smoking since he was 14 and is trying to quit. Talk about hard work! He’s on Day 55. This time I think he’ll make it because it’s what he wants, he’s self-motivated and has attacked the challenge with a passion. He’s doing the work because he’s made the commitment to do so.
Are you alive with passion for your work? If the answer is no, why not?
“Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion,” observed hockey player Reggie Leach. "You must set yourself on fire."

DO IT BECAUSE IT’S YOUR LIFE...
"Please don’t just get a job. A job is something that many of you had while you were working your way through college. A job is something you do for money. But a career is something you do because you must do it. You want to do it, you love doing it, you’re excited when you do it. And you’d do it even if you were paid nothing beyond food and basics. You do it because it’s your life." ~ Edward James Olmos
Bette Davis once called money “the gravy” of her “meat and potatoes” work. It’s all about the work… and how you choose to do it: the personal goals, commitment, satisfaction, and personal growth. The purpose of work is productivity, passion, and fulfillment.
If you love what you do, it’s not work.

SOMETHING YOU LIKE TO DO...
"First find something you like to do so much you’d gladly do it for nothing; then learn to do it so well people are happy to pay you for it.” Walt Disney
“I wish I could stand on a busy corner, hat in hand, and beg people to throw me all their wasted hours.” ~ Bernard Benson
Your work, your life, is precious. Take charge of how you work. Look outside your job description and contribute more. Do more. Be more.
Remember, no matter who signs your paycheck, you work for yourself.
