~ #65 ~ Rock & Roll
Enthusiasm Makes the Difference
When the news is awful, I watch television less and listen to music more. It's my way of coping with the craziness, maintaining my own brand of control. So, I've been turning up a little bit of Mozart, some Johnny Cash, and a lot of Rock and Roll.
Guess Rock has become my rock.
"Music can change the world," said Ludwig Van Beethoven, and while U2's lyrics won't disarm the Taliban, it sure motivates and inspires the spirit. It makes me feel good to listen, dance, and sing along. ALIVE & EXPOSED... No sour grapes here over Bruce Springsteen's Grammy loss to Norah Jones. He won three out of five and played live on TV. I was thrilled to see his powerful performance of London Calling with Steven Van Zandt, Elvis Costello, and David Grohl on the telecast. I replayed that anthem, as a catharsis to my fears. "Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom or philosophy." That's Beethoven again. I like it when the classics support my passion. TWO WINGS OF THE SOUL... There are so many things beyond our control. But we got our heart, our spirit, our soul... and our music. That's quite a lot, don't you think? March 1, 2003 was the fourth anniversary of Daily Celebrations. Thank you so much for your kind words and support. Keep visiting and please continue to share the site with others...
"Rock and Roll motivates. It's the big, gigantic motivator." ~ Bruce Springsteen

"When you're singing and playing rock and roll, you're on the edge of yourself. You're trying to vibrate, trying to make something happen. It's like there's something alive and exposed." ~ Neil Young
That's what music does.

"Which of these two powers, love or music, can elevate man to the sublimest heights? Why separate them? They are the two wings of the soul." ~ Hector Berlioz
