"To be conscious that we are perceiving or thinking is to be conscious of our own existence." ~ Aristotle

While researching Secretary of State Donald Rumsfeld, I discovered he and O.J. Simpson share the same birthday (July 9). Of course, both are different yet share notoriety. In their moments in history, they dominated the media.

This observation made me think of other connections, those "meaningful coincidences" that Swiss psychologist Carl Jung called "synchronicity"...

"People learn more from observation that they do from conversation." ~ Will Rogers

Many popular historical observations have been made between Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy.

I didn't come up with those observations, but here are some of my own:

Did you know that billionaires Howard Hughes and Sam Walton died on the same day? April 5.

Husband and wife teams Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas share the same birthday (September 25) as do Frank Gifford and Kathie Lee Gifford (August 16).

"Coincidences," said British writer G. K. Chesterton "are spiritual puns." This coincidence is pretty outrageous: On July 4, 1826, 50 years to the day after the Declaration of Independence was adopted, former Presidents (and signers of the Declaration) John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died.

"The more we observe and are aware of, the more mental connections we can make that will result in new and relevant ideas." ~ Melissa Strickland

Those are just a few connections that I've found. Do you have any? Email me and I'll share them next time.
