July 12 ~  Food and Sex Love, Medicine, Miracles

"Appetite for food and sex is nature." ~ Lao Tzu

In his book Food Swings, Dr. Barnet Meltzer, fitness of "mind, body, heart, and soul" guru, took a look at food to get you in the mood.

To find nutrients "capable of boosting the libido, increasing sexual stamina, and improving performance," the good doctor searched for foods that are high in vitamin E, magnesium, potassium, zinc, L-arginine, and niacin.

Chocolate and oysters were not on the list.

What's on the list? Celery, asparagus, artichokes, avocado, onions, tomatoes, almonds, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, romaine lettuce, whole-grain breads, all fruits and nuts, and chilies, herbs, and spices.

Sounds like Mexican food for dinner tonight!

"As life's pleasures go, food is second only to sex," observed comedian Alan King. "Except for salami and eggs. Now that's better than sex, but only if the salami is thickly sliced."

Nothing wrong with having a good appetite.
