June 6 ~ Human Community
“Without the human community, one single human being cannot survive.”
— Dalai Lama

Dalai LamaTenzin Gyatso (1935–), the 14th Dalai Lama, is the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists. Known as the "Ocean of Wisdom," he was believed to be a reincarnation of Buddha.

After the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1950, the Dalai Lama went into permanent exile. He once wrote, “Suffering is the first step to liberation.” Despite the loss of his homeland, he continues to teach compassion, love, and kindness.

“When we face problems with compassion, sincerity, and good motivation, our solutions may take longer, but ultimately they are better,” he said. With dignity and humility, he has become a global voice for peace and inner strength.

In 1989, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his unwavering commitment to nonviolence and the sacredness of life. The Dalai Lama believes deeply that one day Tibet will be free again. Until then, he encourages all of us to see our shared humanity and nurture the bonds that unite us.

We survive and thrive because of each other. No one lives in isolation. Our lives are interwoven—through service, respect, and love.
