I bought a Jimmy Valvano cap years ago and I wore it so proudly. I just felt better with that cap on my head. I loved the quote "never give up" on that cap. Someone stole it from me and I havent been able to find another. Would anyone know where I might purchase another? ~ Roger

I often wish that when he received that car from Henry Ford he refused it, noting how the fumes it expelled soiled the air. I suppose he had no way of knowing how out of control it would all go, but I often wonder about a world without cars and planes... Amy

Hello. You might like to know that our just released (1 January 2008) book, Words to Inspire Writers, mentions your site in the Appendix of Useful Web Addresses - as one of 50 or so listed "websites containing General and Writing Quotations (that) should be a good starting point for any further browsing ("of Quotations on the World Wide Web")."

You might like to check out the FREE pdf Sampler for an idea of what our book is about, how your site is the perfect complement to it (and therefore worthy of inclusion), and why it might even be something your readers could be interested in (if you wished to spread the word...). Perhaps some quotations you do not list will be found in the Sampler? Should you mention our book anywhere we would love to hear about it. Thank you. F. C. Sach & Sons, Publishers

I read your daily celebrations every day and it has enriched my life in countless ways. I love the individuals that I learn about and their inspirational words. However I was quite dismayed at your page about Poker a few days ago. I don't understand why you would write about something that has caused untold pain to thousands of people. Gambling is a destructive addiction that has ruined individuals and families. I just wanted to let you know how I feel about it. ~ Bonnie

I need some information in regards to Edwin H. Land. I have 4 patents in my possesion, all from the attorney of Brown and Jones out of New York. I found them in a file cabinet in a gararge. I can give you the patent numbers if it would help. Let me know please. Also, there is original notes by Edwin Land on some of these patent. Thanks, Steve

P.S. Any information regarding those documents would be appreciated. How they ended up in Maine is a question also. That law firm is or was in New York.

Thanks for sending the daily celebrations (Peace Corps), but I must tell you. The quote, "For those to whom much is given, much is required," is from the Holy Bible. Luke 12:48. It was great for JFK to quote it, but it didn't originate with him. Thanks for sharing your great messages. ~ CB, from Louisiana

Hi there, I am finishing my final project (40 pages plus) for my Bachelor's of English Literature and my theme is the quest for home and how home is usually not found until one has accepted his or her idenity. I found some great quotes on your page to use, however I wondered if you had the direct source for one by Joan Didion, that talks about writing as assuaging homesickness. A book or article or page number would be great. Thanks for making such a fantastic site! Your loyal fan, Gillian

Hi DC.. I am also from Hawaii and also have a passion for poetry. My dad had such a beautiful gift of words and I am so blessed to have the same love for words a gift I thank the Lord for. Even so now as I battle a serious liver condition. I find comfort in writing and in encouraging others along the way as I journey with hope in my spirit. I have a blog called Encouragement from the heart. I love your site.. what an inspiration to my soul. Aloha Lorie

I've asked any number of Vonnegut sites about a quote of his. I remember it was in the forward to one of his books, possibly WELCOME TO THE MONKEY HOUSE, he says words to this effect: "I don't believe in the brotherhood of man. Brothers fight too much. We should be cousins - cousins, you see on an annual basis, then they go home." I've not received a reply from any of the other sites. Can you find it? ~ Marty F.

Your quote from Karl Marx, "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs." is actually from the Bible. I can't give you chapter and verse but I believe it is from the story where God give manna to the children of Israel when they wander in the desert. ~ Melissa
