September 26 ~ Tablet of Memory
Travel gives a character of experience to our knowledge, and brings the figures on the tablet of memory into strong relief.”
~ Henry Tuckerman

Watercolor U.S. States Visited Map I once made myself an actual “tablet of memory,” a map that colored in the U.S. states I had visited. Just over half the country lit up in red. Each region carried a memory. A story. A turning point.

The tool I used is now gone, but the memories remain vivid. I’ve since visited more places. And I’ve come to realize: it was never really about numbers. The map didn’t show where I’d been, it revealed who I was becoming along the way.

You can create your own memory map—drawn on paper, scribbled in a journal, or quietly etched in the heart. A visual celebration of the journey so far… and the roads yet to wander.

Ahh, the delights of exploring this world. As essayist Agnes Repplier said, “The impulse to travel is one of the hopeful symptoms of life.”

Wherever we go, we carry the echoes of those places with us. That’s the true map, the one drawn not in borders, but in the spirit.
