Palm Sunday ~  Beauty of Good Everyday Grace: Having Hope

"Don't waste yourself in rejection, nor bark against the bad, but chant the beauty of the good." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Religion & Spirituality Today is Palm Sunday, the fifth Sunday of Lent, the last Sunday before Easter and the beginning of Holy Week. First celebrated in the 300's, Palm Sunday honors Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem with the symbolic waving of palm branches, an emblem of joy and victory...the triumph before His crucifixion.

In a tribute to faith, Father J.P. De Caussade observed, "God speaks to all individuals through what happens to them moment by moment."

Palm Sunday recalls the fleeting triumph before rejection in the life of Jesus Christ, but it also is a metaphor for the triumphs and rejections in our own lives... and the ultimate resurrection.

"Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark," praised Rabindranath Tagore.

Praise and rejection are among the natural and inevitable rhythms of life. When faced with the bad, it is so important to continue to "chant the beauty of the good."
